Area History

The KRAA and others continue to record a history of the area, from its industrial roots through to present day as a tourist destination and recreational area.

Contributions are solicited. All multimedia is appreciated – in particular, photos, videos, or audio recordings of stories!

Feedback and further information is solicited – please contact the KRAA if you have additions, corrections, or feedback.

Some links have been added when transferred to the website for further information; please exercise caution as the KRAA cannot accept responsibility for content not hosted with the KRAA.ca domain.

The definitive guides to the area are William A. Campbell’s books, Northeastern Georgian Bay and Its People, and The French and Pickerel Rivers, Their History, and Their People. These books are no longer in print, but many area residents have a copy.
