What3Words

The simplest way to talk about location

Street addresses weren’t designed for 2021. They aren’t accurate enough to specify precise locations, such as building entrances, and don’t exist for parks and many rural areas. This makes it hard to find places and prevents people from describing exactly where help is needed in an emergency.

That’s why what3words was created

What is what3words?

The people at What3Words divided the world into 3 metre squares and gave each square a unique combination of three words. It’s the easiest way to find and share exact locations.

Used by millions

Millions of people around the world use what3words to make life safer,
more efficient and less frustrating.

Supporting life-saving services

Around the world and here in Canada, emergency services and NGOs are using what3words to find and help people in need.

Ontario 911 operators use it and the Canadian Coast Guard is evaluating it.

KRAA is using it, too!

Many of our members lack 911 addresses. Until such time as they are available, please know & use the What3Words of your dock or driveway to tell people where you are. Keep it on the fridge with your GPS coordinates for emergencies. Use it as part of your cottage address on this website.

For example:
1234 Key River – proof.fall.consequence
or
Island GS3496 – publish.health.schedule
