Eastern Georgian Bay Stwardship Council Spawning Study

Eastern Georgian Bay Stwardship Council (EGBSC) has received $250,000 to undertake a 3 year study to identify and assess all identified walleye spawning sites on the Bay from the French south to Midland. The long term goal is to start a rehab program on sites that can and should be improved. KRAA will be helping by identifying historic sites in our area that should be investigated.

The KRAA has a close working relationship with the EGBSC. They have worked with us on this most recent Key River walleye spawning project. In the next weeks EGBSC will be sending the KRAA a photographic and written report on what was done at upper Key River in the fall of 2015 with Jerry Smitka's involvement. Watch for that on the website soon.

In addition, our own Past President, John Bell, is a member of the board of the EGBSC and so will keep us up-to-date on the progress of this important study.
